Modular Schedule A modular schedule has been adopted to accommodate the needs of our working students. Full-time students attend class for nine months out of the year, September through June, taking two theology courses over a period of three months, generally meeting one weekend a month for each course. Theology classes meet on a Friday night and all day Saturday. Thus, each course will meet for about eight to ten hours per month for three months, making a total of about 25 hours of classroom lecture, which is adequate for our quarter hour system. The biblical languages are offered in addition to the previously mentioned schedule. Language courses generally meet on Thursday evenings and on the Saturdays when other courses are not meeting. Not counting the language courses, the total number of classroom courses a student will take from September through June will be six. In order to finish the programs in a timely fashion, students will need to complete accelerated courses during the summers and directed studies during the regular academic year, with the goal of completing eight courses per year. The rest of the time is usually designated for study, during which examinations, term papers and additional reading may be completed. This schedule allows students to work during the day, which many divinity schools are finding necessary. Students leave CTH with an excellent education, but without massive student loan debt.
